The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted every aspect of our daily lives, creating not only uncertainty and fear, but also opportunities to support Mustangs in need. The livelihoods of some of our families have been affected to the point that many students are reconsidering whether they are able to continue their educations at SMU or start their first years this fall. SMU is committed to supporting all our students through this pandemic.

President R. Gerald Turner created the Presidential Fund for Immediate Needs with the explicit goal of supporting and retaining our current students and recruiting a full class for the coming year. This fund will allow the University to respond quickly to the impact of COVID-19 on our students. The highest priority will be placed on scholarships for current and incoming students and mitigating financial challenges brought on by job losses or other family hardships.

The Presidential Fund for Immediate Needs can quickly provide resources for students facing these difficult situations, and is an opportunity for friends and supporters to help our University community weather this storm and any challenges that may present themselves in the future.

With your support, we can emerge from this together. Then, together, we can build an even brighter future for SMU and the Mustang family.
